Bacterial vaginosis is an infection in the vaginal part caused by the imbalance of bacteria. Most common symptoms include the excess discharge of vaginal fluid which smells like fish and can be of grey or white in colour. Till now there are no cause known for this infection, but it is typically found in the sexually active women. Metronidazole or clindamycin is typically used for the treatment of BV infection. These antibiotics can be taken either by mouth or directly applied inside the vagina. It is not a sexually transmitted disease.
